NO X PLEASE

Have you tried greeting everybody with an "x" on Christmas?
My friend told me that whenever we greet merry christmas never put x on it,
because it seems you are deleting CHRIST on his special day!

I was able to think about it and i said to myself,
Oh my God! kakahiya.....that is HIS special day
and yet i replaced a letter "x" on his name!

So, next time you greet everybody
write

Merry CHRISTmas!

it will never do harm on you!

have a merry and blessed CHRISTmas everyone!

RoTa ViRuS

Ate tala was diagnosed with ROTA VIRUS. With our busy sked, we attend christmas parties almost everyday....i just thought that ate tala's stomach aches were caused by the food she eats. But i was alarmed when she started to vomit twice last night and told us that she can't handle the pain anymore. Hubby immediately called our pedia and set a schedule for the little girl's check up. I was not able to join them coz hubby asked me to finish all the tasks he asked me to do. So i just called them from time to time to check on the little girl. It took them almost 3 hours to finish all the lab tests.

This is the first time i heard about rota virus, so i immediately browsed thru the net and heres what i found.
  • Rotavirus is the most common cause of severe diarrhea among infants and children throughout the world.
  • Most children become infected with rotavirus by age 3.
  • There are different strains of rotavirus, and multiple infections by different strains may occur.
  • Rotavirus causes fever, vomiting, and watery diarrhea.
  • Rotavirus infection is highly contagious.
  • Rotavirus illness typically resolves on its own after three to nine days.
  • A vaccine to prevent rotavirus infection is available.
You can check more about rota virus here.

Though i am very cautious to my kids, still it's not enough so i guess i need to be more extra extra cautious.

Ate tala is very cooperative, she drinks her meds (motillium before meal time), her pedialite 30 and she eats well though her pedia advised us to give only crackers, clear soup and fruits.

I hope ate will get well before 12mn strikes! so she can enjoy our noche buena feast!

Adel are hubby's friends.

We had a little chit chat. He is very accomodating and one thing more....he has a very good complexion....it is very obvious in the pic! napaka flawless! kakainggit..hahahaha! and of course! he smells good! yummy! hahahaha....ok enough.....!hahahaha....actually, hubby keep on teasing me that i looked like a 16 year old who have seen her crush " na hindi mapakali"......hehehe!

old pics from SSEAYP

These were the pics taken during the 2005 SSEAYP program.......

with bam aquino the ship our foster daughters

Looking forward to having another worthwhile experience.....though we came from different countries the bottom line is.....we are all ASIAN! MABUHAY!

foster daughters

For the 2nd time, we will be joining again the SSEAYP ( SHIP FOR SOUTHEAST ASIAN YOUTH PROGRAM). This is a a cultural exchange program among the youth in the ASEAN member countries and Japan that seeks to promote goodwill and understanding. This is an opportunity for the PY (Participating Youth) to gain first hand experience on how it is to live in a typical ASEAN COUNTRY, in our case, FILIPINO home. The National Youth Commission is responsible in scouting prospective host families here in our country. Each family hosts 2 PY'S of the same gender.

Our first hosting was 2005 and we weren't able to join the 2006 and 2007 program coz of our busy sked. Our first foster daughters came from indonesia and brunei and we still communicate up to now. Since hubby and I are not that old, we were more of foster sisters than daughters........aneh who came from brunei even took time to visit us last 2006 when she made a coverage here.... and vira from indonesia, was able to meet up hubby when he went to indonesia last year......

Hubby and I really adore this program........it gives us a chance to showcase our hospitality at its best.

On December 3, we are excited to meet and pick up our PY'S...this time coming from vietnam and brunei once more.....will keep you posted.

by the way, you can check the program here for more info.

Will check the old pics so i can share it with you

tala at 1 week old

7 years have passed and when we (hubby and i) looked back
we didn't know that we can give a love like this.
Tala came to our lives planned and unplanned.

yet we were unsured if we can raise a family.

When tala came to our lives
all our fears were laid to rest.

a year older

I am a year older today. I thank GOD for all the blessings HE is giving me. If you'd ask me what's the best gift i received......It is seeing my mom who brought me in this world, still alive and around being a mother not just to me but to my whole family.........

This is our special day mom.....this is the birth of our bonding as mother and daughter and I THANK YOU for the unconditional love you have showered me and i am giving it back to my family.

Thank you also to my hubby, who is very supportive, who opened my mind that loving one another is not enough but rather giving me the feeling of family is the best in raising this family. I love you tay!

To my 2 daughters.....tala and mayumi, I ( WE pala as hubby does not want to me to monopolize it) LOVE YOU!.....you have thought me a lot of things in life......you fill the part that completes me.

Birthday update

this been bothering me for days now and this morning as i was counting days left for my kids birthday, i asked hubby what will be our birthday plan for our 2 angels.......and the answer....

  • hubby decided to have a birthday party for ate tala since she will be turning 7! (yippppeeeeee!!!!! i am more excited than the bday girl, hahahaha)

  • they will still be having a small celebration in school ( ate tala on the 24th and mayumi this i have to check to her teacher, either on her day which is on the 26th or 2 days later, 28th)
So, when hubby approved the bday party idea for ate tala....i immediately told them that i will be treating them for some pizza at blue wave ( but my real intention was......to go to mcdo and shakeys to inquire....sssshhhhhhhhhhhhh).

At bluewave, i asked hubby that we headed to shakey's to have some pizza. While we were there, i told himin a pacute way...."tay, inquire na kaya ako for the birthday party".....WOW! i think my hubby was in a good mood...no objections...so i inquired...Shakey's has plenty to offer than in Mcdo, i have tried Mcdo already so i got impressed to what Shakey's have been offering.......hubby was listening pala and nagulat ako when he said "nay, pareserve mo na!"

Wow! hahahahaha......no worries for me anymore.........so it's final......ate tala and mayumi will be celebrating their birthdays at Shakey's Bluewave on Nov. 23/Sunday at 3-5pm:

Birthday Theme: Wonderland Adventure

All Saints Day

Christ Glorified in the Court of Heaven
Fra Angelico - 1428-30, Tempera on wood - National Gallery, London
"The glorious company of the apostles praise Thee.
The goodly fellowship of the prophets praise Thee.
The white-robed army of martyrs praise Thee.
All Thy saints and elect with one voice do acknowledge Thee,
O Blessed Trinity, one God!"

-- Feast of All Saints (November 1), Antiphon at Lauds. from the Te Deum

We celebrate All Saints Day in memory of all the Martyrs who stood by Jesus, never gave up their christian faith even it means saving their lives.

This day, let us pray for all "who have died and gone before us into the presence of the Lord".

friendship candle

FRIENDSHIP CANDLE

From Cee with a message that says:

Don't let the Candle of Love, Hope and Friendship die. May God richly bless you as you keep this candle burning. Pass it on to all your Friends and to everyone you love.

I am passing this on to everyone...
Please feel free to snag this:)

trick or treat

Our Homeowners Association organized a trick or treat or a Halloween Party for kids. I wasn't able to buy kids costumes for this event because i was hesitant buying princess's costumes, baka kasi they get bigger agad in a few days, sayang naman. So instead, i checked their cabinets and look what i've got for them....

ate tala wore this costume in her mary poppins play in school
and mayumi is wearing a black ballet dress and a skirt given by her mama jo.
You see, kids can enjoy halloweens even without those expensive costumes.
Just check their wardrobes and be innovative and creative.
By the way, I used KLUTZ face paints for ate tala. It was a pasalubong from Manang Dadet
when she arrived from Canada last July.

HAPPY HALLOWEEN EVERYONE!

Manaoag

falling in line to drop the thank you letters that the kids wrote

mayumi writing her thank you letter

way up to the back of Our Lady

lighted some candles for our family and friends
kids saying their prayers before Our Lady of Manaoag

Here are some of the pics i've took during our manaoag trip yesterday. You cannot find me in the pics because i feel awkward as i undergone some warts removal last tuesday and i still have this "polka dots on my face and neck"

Oct. 25 - will go to the 7th Kiddie Karnival Fair and Halloween Party at Edsa Shang
Oct. 26 - kids will set up the Christmas Tree and other decorations
Oct. 27 - kids will clean their dresser so we can share the clothes they no longer wear to others
Oct. 28 - go to Manaoag Church with family friends ( this i have to confirm)
Oct. 29- rest day as they will be tired for the long trip to Manaoag
Oct. 30- attend kids halloween party, sponsored by our homeowners association
Oct. 31- Nov. 1- family get away to tagaytay
Nov. 2 - visit my dad at Loyola Memorial Park in Marikina

November 3 is back to school day. I just hope with these activities my kids maintained the same enthusiasm to go back to BAHAY KWITIB!

Entrepreneurs' day

As part of the Preschool week at LITTLE FARM HOUSE, BAHAY KWITIB, preschoolers had this "Entrepreneurs' Day". My 2 kids enjoyed this activity, first they have to deposit and withdraw to KWITIB BANK then they are free to choose how they are going to spend their money.....classrooms were transformed to KWITIB MART (groceries), KWITIB MOVIE HOUSE, KWITIB PET SHOPS, FOOD SHOP, BOOK STORE and they also have a BK COMMUNITY RADIO.

MY kids really had a blast! They loved the KWITIB MART, they were able to buy their own goodies, tala bought yakult, hunts pork and beans and jelly ace lychees. Mayumi bought her own yakult, oreo and jelly ace lychees too. They loved roaming around the mart with the little push cart....falling in line to pay, and using their recycable market bags. Then they went to the food shop, ordered halo-halo and pizza.....ate with their friends and they proceed to the movie house.....they again fall in line to get their movie ticket, bought popcorns.....after the movie, they went to the KWITIB PET SHOP and caught their own fish......

Hubby and I were so happy to see them, living and moving on their own.....for us, it looks like they are playing but for them....its real and they are learning a lot from that "play".

no rice policy

I am happy to say that i managed not to eat rice for 1 week. I started this endeavor (hahahaha!) last October 13.......i silently and voluntarily promised myself to lose weight. YES! i am doing this not for anybody but for MY OWN GOOD!

I used to weigh, 110lbs when i got pregnant to our 1st baby (2001), i weighed 138lbs, when i gave birth i stayed at 140lbs....after a few months of giving birth, i got pregnant again (oh yes!)..november 26, 2002 i gave birth for the 2nd time.......and i weighed 168lbs...imagine how big i am....i was so tired of loosing weight...my usual reason was...."I JUST GAVE BIRTH"...until i realised that it was almost 6 years......i hope it is not too late.

To date, i am convinced that i need to lose weight not to slim down, not to be beautiful BUT more than that....i need to lose weight to be healthy and fit......not for anybody but for myself.

One thing i've learned.....If you want it, you can do it!

seat sale no more!

My good friend and kumare, jen, called me last night asking if i wanted to go to singapore because there's a seat sale at tiger airways.....since i promised myself that i will be back in that city.....i immediately asked permission from hubby....good thing, he allowed me.

When we are making our bookings this morning, we were surprised.....as i hit "continue" there was a change in the fare! huh! from 97.18 usd to 136.58 usd.....huh! i thought there was a hidden charges....So i refreshed the page and book again and to my surprise.....NO MORE SEAT SALE

I just need a few more seconds to confirm my bookings and then....hayyyy life talaga!

So we decided to wait for another seat sale....i have to check cebu pacific's promo instead.

Preschool Week

Yesterday was the start of my kids school activities. It is their PreSchool Week. Ate tala was needed in school at 7:15am! whoa! imagine that, i need to wake her up at 6:15......Anyway, she woke up at 6:30, ate breakfast in an instant, took a bath and we headed to school at around 7...yes...we were on the dot!

I was thinking why they need to be in school at 7:15 while the official time for the activities will start at 8:30am....so my query was answered and feel so proud not just for my daughter tala but for the whole preschoolers......they performed for the assembly time of the grade school and highschool department....preschoolers led the morning prayers......the National Anthem...the panunumpa sa Watawat ng Pilipinas.....and some preschoolers were asked what they want to be when they grow up.....i laughed to one scenario wherein a kid said that she wants to be a doctor and the following kid said....."when i grow up, i want to be a....hmmm FAMOUS DOCTOR!".....everybody really laughed.....so smart!Anyways, ate tala was with the group that performed a song and dance number, actually it was more of a rap and dance number, borrowing the tune of "MGA KABABAYAN KO" by Francis M.....here's the wordings....

Mga Kababayan ko, Taga- Kwitib po ako
Inuuwi basura ko, Ako ay Pilipino
Uniporme kada araw, ay rosas at bughaw
Babae man o Lalakii, itong kulay maaari.

Ako ay sumisikap para sa aking pangarap
Pinagbubuti ko ang pag-aaral ko
Pangarap ko ay pangarap nya,
Pangarap naming dalawa!

PRESCHOOL....You're number 1!

Tala was of course in her very upbeat good mood, so she danced and rap so well, hahaha!

Will post pics soon....as i am still learning the pasikot sikot of windows vista, hahahaha!

Missing you

I am missing my hubby now....he attended a 4 day seminar in Palawan and when he comes back on Friday, he will be leaving again and will be gone for 3 days. He was invited as a resource speaker of PATS.

Anyway, he made the dates, October 20, 23 and 24 free for tala and yumi's school activities.

And we are both looking forward for our "hubby and wife" getaway....... very very soon!

PreSchool Week

Next week will be a busy week for my kids and us too . Several activities are lined up for them...

Monday, October 24 - WANNA BE FASHION DAY

Each preschool child will come in his/her special costume, that shows what he/she wants to be in the future.....and take note of this, costumes should be handmade and comes from a recycled and environment friendly materials......hohummmm.....a time to show our resourcefulness and creativeness and all the nesssessss....hahahaha!

Tala will be wearing a zoo keeper outfit, oh yes! she wants to be a zoo keeper when she grows up. Mayumi on the other hand wants to be a doctor!...so, i am now busy thinking of possible materials that we can use......any idea anyone? please feel free to leave a message and i will gladly accept your ideas....thanks in advance.

Aside from their wanna be fashion show, there will also be a storytelling ( oh, i would love to join this!) and puppet show.

Tuesday and Wednesday are regular school days for them.

Thursday, October 23 will be their Entrepreneurs' Day.

*The school will be turned into KWITIB COUNTY, learning centers will be put up....i believe this is an integration with their topics about COMMUNITY.

Classrooms will be turned into a MART (GROCERY); BOOKSHOP; FOOD COURT; MOVIE HOUSE; BANK, there will also be centers for arts and craft ( a sea adventure), recycling center and a community radio.

Friday, October 24-Academic Day

* Bright little people of THE LITTLE FARM HOUSE will show off their skills, talents and knowledge!

CAn't wait to see my kids join these activities!

"KaMaYaN"

Sunday/October 10, 2008: We woke up late so we decided to have lunch at home and go to church in the afternoon. Hubby said that I could stay in our room and take some more rest and he will take care of our lunch. At around 12:30 I heard them shout, "Nanay, kakain na!" I went down and hubby told me we will eat outside, we are going to teach them how to eat by hands....They keep on asking where are the plates, spoons and fork, why should we eat this way.......etc...etc...ate tala even asked, are we poor nanay, can you still buy as toys?....hahahaha! So hearing those words hubby and I made some KAMAYAN SESSION with them...Look at our pics! eyes were puzzled BUT yes! they enjoyed it and had some fun too!

solar system, skeletal and reproductive system

...these are some of the topics in today's culminating activity of my kids (by the way, their school is Little Farm House, preschool dept of HEDCEN)...Hubby and I take turns in watching them, we shift from 1 classroom to another as we dont want to miss them perform. It is so amazing to see kids talk about our human body...i salute to the teachers who keep on stimulating children's mind!....very creative, very informative!

Mayumi is in level ll and they showed how great they are as they talk about the beautiful family of the Solar System! Every child was given a chance to represent a member of the solar system, Mayumi was assigned as Venus, the hottest planet! My husband asked me to go to mayumi's room...he literally pushed me....and when i enter the room, there will be a question and answer pala, a tandem of 1 parent and his/her kid! kaya pala! grabe talaga pinasubo ako!.....so thankful that mayumi was able to answer the question ng walang kahirap-hirap....hahaha!..

teacher: What do you call a baby fish?
Mayumi: a fry

Ate tala is in level lll, they had a talk show and spoof of commercials emphasizing the skeletal and reproductive system of the human body. She was part of the group that sang the concept song of reproductive system and the x-ray song. Then they played "ARE YOU SMARTER THAN A PRESCHOOLER?" , this time with parents.... And sorry to say but PRESCHOOLERS ARE SMARTER THAN US! hahaha! One question of the teacher was"What do you call the outer skin that support and protects an animal......i dont know but all parents were quiet and i have to admit, i dunno the answer, hahahaha! and one student answered without battling an eyelash....exoskeleton...and yes you are right as he said the word....and for the benefits of the parents.....teacher wrote the word on the board! hahahaha....really amazing kids!

birthdays...

Ate tala and mayumi's birthday are coming up.....I am hoping that i get rid of my feeling to celebrate ate tala's 7th birthday with a party since she asked us that a simple celebration in her school is enough for her....But i am really thinking otherwise since it is a tradition in our family that when a child turns 7 it should be a big party.....hayyyyyyy!

Hubby and I agreed that we follow what our kids want...so, i should settle for ate tala's decision. Anyway, last night i went to Cakes by Rea, it is a local bakeshop here in Antipolo and I already inquired...I will be taking tala and mayumi there probably on Sunday so they can choose their own cake....I just hope they will choose the one I eyed! (oh! i am really a mother now...acting like mother knows best! hahahahaha).

On Saturday, my kids and I will be working their party invites.....using different cut out shapes surely they will enjoy!......

Next on my list is to decide what will be their give-aways....no more candies please! i want something that is different.....

Later this afternoon, we will be visiting daddy....he's laid to rest at loyola marikina.
We've been longing for him physically for 22 years already...but we have lived as if he was always at our side...daddy's presence is always felt.....be it during our low times or happy times......no! we dont smell flowers or candles........but there is always a big butterfly roaming around us and that's how we feel him.....i remember daddy's words to mom....."mommy, pag nawala na ako at may nakita kayong mariposa (big butterfly), ako yun ha, wag nyo tatabuyin, pangako ko babantayan ko kayo"......and during my dad's burial a mariposa was found inside mom's room....

And true to his promise, when my sister and her family left for australia and mommy was so sad, a mariposa was found again inside her room.......

Party prep

blog hopping is what i do for the past weeks......i am not in my usual mood to blog the happenings in my everyday life...until i read the post of tet ( permission to mention your name sis! hehehehe) about her party planning for her son....then i realised that only a month away is left for our BDAY MONTH.....me and my 2 kids are all november girl! i was born on the 21st, tala ( my eldest) on the 24th and mayumi ( my bunso) on the 26th......

Tala will be turning 7....we were thinking to give her a big party but she told her tatay last night that she just want to have a small party in her school.....wow bait ni ate tala ko!.....but she requested us that she wants a beautiful, big cake.......so, i just need to set an appointment with her teacher to discuss tala's bday celebration in school....

with regards to mayumi, this little girl wants a party.....huhummmmm...so let us see.....mcdo or burger king are my choices.....but my hubby was thinking otherwise....he wants to spend the party at pan de americana and his reason....para maiba naman!....so et's see....

and for my day.....well, when i turned 30 i promised myself to always celebrate my bday with special people around me....the last 5 years, i always invite my closest friends and relatives to a simple dinner.......need to find good foods to serve!

My kids wont tell me what they will do because it will be a surprise, but i heard them last night as they were making kwentos of their presentation. Ate tala is practicing a line so i think their presentation will be a short play while ading mayumi is busy with some turns....she is going to dance!

Oh! can'twait to see them perform in their filipiniana costume.

Will post pics tonight. In the meantime, we gotta get going as their assembly time will be at 9am!

Have a great Friday everyone!

My Hands

I saw this cute poem inside mayumi's classroom and i want to share this to every mom out there.........:)

Sometimes you get discouraged
because I am so small
and always leave my fingerprints
On furniture and walls.

But everyday I'm growing...
I will be grown up someday,
And all those tiny handprints
will surely fade away.

So here's a final handprint
Just so you can recall
Exactly how my fingers looked
when i was very small.

mayumi's work

look at my ading mayumi's work
mayumi as a lap baby, toddler and as a pre schooler

our family :)

Now, let's talk about...

our digestive system....here it goes...
The teeth in my mouth
bite and chew, bite and chew
bite and chew all day long

The food goes into my mouth
down the esophagus
turn in my stomach
slide down the intestine
out as urine and feces

Simple and wonderful isn't it?

I was once a tiny cell,
coming from my mommy
You call this a pretty egg
waiting for the sperm
hahaha, hohoho
mommy dear i love you so
hahaha, hohoho
daddy dear i love you so
I was once a tiny cell
coming from my daddy
You call this a handsome sperm
wriggling all the time
hahaha, hohoho
daddy dear i love you so
hahaha, hohoho
mommy dear i love you so
I was once a tiny cell
coming from my parents
You call this a zygote
in my mommy's uterus
hahaha, hohoho
mommy dear i love you so
hahaha, hohoho
daddy dear i love you so

my zygote now sings......hehehehe

see, they know how a sperm wriggles
